Red Oak grows in the eastern half of the United States and Southeast Canada. The Sapwood can be grayish to white in color, while the heartwood is pinkish to red to wheat in color depending on the area it was harvested. This species has an open grain that is straight and coarse in texture. It is hard and heavy with excellent machining and finishing properties.
